The mountain of Ben Lomond is the only mountain in Tasmania with the modern conveniences of a more contemporary ski area. The mountain has one of the highest peaks in Tasmania and is visible from much of Northern Tasmania. The mountain is actually a plateau over 1300 meters high. This makes it ideal for both summer and winter sports.

The Ben Lomond National Park does much to protect the natural wildlife and plants of the region. The species protected within the park are unique to the region’s alpine terrain, and the preservation of glacial aspects of the mountain is important to the state as a whole.

During the warmer months on Ben Lomond, the crags of the mountain attract a different sort of visitor. Ben Lomond is a popular destination for rock climbers, alpine hikers, and sightseers. The weather on the mountain is unpredictable at best, so it is wise to be prepared for rain or snow at anytime – including the warmest months of the year.
